In addition our dedicated lift team installed two new lifts to BS5655 standards.

OFFICE RATIONALISATION – “TOMORROW’S OFFICE”

The aim of the Tomorrow’s Office programme was to reduce Glasgow City Council’s city centre office accommodation and change the way the Council worked, saving £5.9 million every year for the next 25 years. The rationalisation programme brought the buildings from 19 to eight.

As well as the refurbishment of the interiors, we manufactured the furniture at Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi), the largest supported manufacturing factory in Europe.

There was a need to create an effective office environment and make it aesthetically pleasing. Our highly experienced team of designers were able to utilise the space required whilst still creating stylish room layouts to create bright office layouts with ample storage.

Garrowhill Primary School

GARROWHILL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Garrowhill Primary was an £11.5million construction project in the Garrowhill area of Glasgow. The state-of-the-art new building replaced the previous school building. Instead of draughty corridors and leaking windows, youngsters have an environmentally friendly new school that is inspiring them to learn.

The design of the building is aimed to be as environmentally friendly as possible with under floor heating, a ventilation system which uses fresh air to cut down on traffic noise and ground source heat pumps that extract heat from below the ground using boreholes. Rainwater is also collected and used within the school water system.

The building was designed to face a nearby park to admit more light and allow children to feel connected to the outdoors.

We have a number of female apprentices training with us across a range of trades from joinery and engineering to painting and decorating. A number of our female apprentices have progressed through the company to management positions.

That, in turn, generates an organisational pride which is reinforced by significant achievements over the last 10 years.

Collegelands Glasgow

Collegelands

COLLEGELANDS GLASGOW

Collegelands is one of Scotland’s largest regeneration projects. The site which was the founding place of the University of Glasgow takes up 1.1m square feet on the corner of High Street and Duke Street in Glasgow.

Working in partnership with Dawn Construction, the project consisted of Grade A office space and a 1,220 space multi-storey car park.

The project involved the regeneration of a derelict 13 acre site in the east end of the city, which was formerly a railway goods yard.

The project won the British Council for Offices award 2013 and the BREEAM Excellent rating brings environmental standards at a competitive cost.

Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi) manufactured and supplied the kit panels, kitchens and office furniture.

The entire fit-out of the office blocks and car park was carried out by City Building tradespeople and all the office furniture was manufactured at Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries (RSBi) in Glasgow, one of Europe’s largest supported factories.
